Defiant in nature, bold in character and always uncompromising
Punishment by Transportation
Between 1788 and 1868, 165,000 convicts made the long voyage by sea to Australia. Times were tough for criminals, but these individuals were tougher. They survived the boat ride and the exile. Now their stories survive into the 21st century with 19 Crimes.
Of exiles and overseers
Southern Australia’s 19 Crimes winery is named after the 19 crimes that led to British criminals being exiled to Australia. There they found themselves in a new world and shaped today’s Australia. All of the estate’s wine bottles are decorated with historical personalities from the 18th and 19th centuries. The names of the wines also follow this tradition: „The Banished Dark Red“, „The Warden Red Blend“ or „The Uprising Red Wine“ are reminiscent of exiles, their overseers and revolutions. Incidentally, the American rapper Snoop Dogg is the patron of the extraordinary wines. Apart from that, the red and white wines from 19 Crimes also impress with their intense, often unconventional aroma – an exciting treat!
